Question 1

What is The Classical Snail?

Accepted Answer

A monthly physical-mail club for readers. Each month we choose one enduring public-domain classic and build a small collection of paper goods around it, then send it to you in a sealed envelope.

Question 2

Do I receive an actual book?

Accepted Answer

No. Membership includes a curated collection of literary paper goods inspired by the featured classic. It does not include a physical copy of the novel unless a future special edition specifically says otherwise.

Question 3

Which edition will I receive first?

Accepted Answer

Order by the 18th to receive that month's edition. Order after the 18th and your subscription begins with the following month's edition. There is no Month One, and nothing to catch up on.

Question 4

Do I need to have read the featured book?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Every edition is written to be enjoyable whether the book is an old favorite or entirely new to you, and we keep the letters spoiler-conscious.

Question 5

Can I join at any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Order by the 18th to receive that month's edition; order after the 18th and you'll begin with the following month's edition.

Question 6

What is included?

Accepted Answer

A curated collection of paper goods, art, correspondence, and ephemera inspired by the featured classic. The contents change with every edition, and the novel itself is not included.

Question 7

When will my envelope ship?

Accepted Answer

Envelopes are mailed after the monthly cutoff, typically around the 25th of the month. The current month's expected mailing date is shown on the This Month page.

Question 8

Is postage included?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every membership price includes worldwide postage — no separate shipping charge at checkout.

Question 9

Do you ship internationally?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We mail to readers around the world, and postage is included in every price. U.S. orders typically arrive within 3–8 business days after mailing; international delivery times vary by destination and may take several weeks. International customers may be responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees charged by their country.

Question 10

How do gift subscriptions work?

Accepted Answer

You choose a length and start month, tell us where to send it, and add a note. Gifts are paid once, end automatically at the end of the term, and never renew. The recipient never enters payment information.

Question 11

Can I buy a past edition?

Accepted Answer

The current edition can be bought on its own for $13, while inventory lasts. When copies of earlier editions remain, they may also be offered at $13 each. Past editions are not included with a new membership.

Question 12

Can I cancel at any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Monthly memberships renew until canceled. To cancel, email us at theclassicalsnail@gmail.com before your renewal date and you won't be billed again; you'll still receive any edition already paid for. Prepaid memberships and gifts don't renew, so there's nothing to cancel.

Question 13

What happens if my address changes?

Accepted Answer

Update it in your account or email us at theclassicalsnail@gmail.com. Changes made by the 18th apply to that month's mailing; later changes apply to the next one.

Question 14

What if my envelope is lost or damaged?

Accepted Answer

Please contact us within 30 days of delivery for damaged mail. If an envelope appears lost, contact us once the expected delivery window for your destination has passed. Replacements are subject to remaining inventory.

Question 15

Are the books in the public domain?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We feature works in the public domain, and every quotation we print is checked against a verified public-domain edition. For translated works we record the translator and translation year.

Question 16

Is this affiliated with any publisher or film adaptation?

Accepted Answer

No. The Classical Snail is an independent literary mail club and is not affiliated with modern publishers, film studios, television adaptations, or authors' estates. Original designs may incorporate carefully sourced public-domain artwork and historical material.
